Role: Lead ETL Developer
Location: IOWA Remote
Objective / Summary
The VISION - CWIS FACS Conversion Initiative requires the migration of critical data from the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery environment into enterprise SQL data warehouse platforms. The Lead ETL Developer will provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, mentoring, and hands-on development expertise to support data extraction, transformation, migration, and modernization efforts. This position will lead a dedicated ETL team while ensuring data integrity, scalability, reliability, and alignment with enterprise reporting and analytics requirements.
Scope of Services / Responsibilities
- Lead the development of ETL and data ingestion processes supporting migration from Google Cloud BigQuery to SQL-based enterprise data warehouse environments.
- Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise ETL pipelines.
- Architect and implement data processing solutions using modern ETL technologies and cloud-native frameworks.
- Extract historical and real-time data from multiple source systems, including:
- Google Cloud BigQuery
- Relational databases
- Flat files
- Other enterprise data sources
- Transform, cleanse, standardize, and load data into enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, and analytical databases.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for a team of ETL developers.
- Mentor and train a team of four or more ETL developers on:
- ETL development best practices
- Coding standards
- Data modeling
- Architecture principles
- Development methodologies
- Establish consistent development patterns and governance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, analysts, and technical teams to validate requirements.
- Ensure alignment between data solutions and reporting, operational, and analytical needs.
- Develop and execute testing strategies to validate:
- Data integrity
- Data completeness
- Data accuracy
- Data consistency
- Review and validate transactional and analytical data models.
- Ensure enterprise data models contain required business elements for downstream systems and BI solutions.
- Optimize ETL pipelines for:
- Scalability
- Reliability
- Maintainability
- Performance
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations, documentation, and status updates.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on ETL development experience .
- Minimum 7 years of experience with modern ETL and reporting/Business Intelligence (BI) tools .
- Minimum 7 years of experience designing enterprise ETL solutions and data integration pipelines .
- Minimum 7 years of experience with enterprise data models and ETL architecture best practices .
- Minimum 7 years of experience serving as a Technical Lead managing or mentoring teams of four or more developers .
- Minimum 7 years of experience with Google Cloud Dataform .
- Minimum 7 years of experience with Google BigQuery .
- Minimum 7 years of experience implementing and supporting Medallion Architecture frameworks .
- Strong understanding of:
- Data warehousing concepts
- Data integration methodologies
- Data lake architectures
- Enterprise reporting solutions
- Analytical data environments
- Experience developing and maintaining both batch and real-time data ingestion processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

Operational Requirements / Deliverables
- Lead ETL development activities supporting the VISION - CWIS FACS Conversion Initiative.
- Deliver production-ready ETL pipelines supporting migration from GCP BigQuery to SQL-based enterprise data warehouses.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and oversight for the ETL development team.
- Establish and maintain ETL standards, development patterns, and best practices.
- Develop comprehensive testing and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
- Produce technical documentation, architecture artifacts, and implementation guides.
- Validate transactional and analytical data models to meet enterprise reporting and operational requirements.
- Optimize ETL processes for scalability, maintainability, and long-term operational support.
- Facilitate communication between business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership.
- Support ongoing modernization efforts through data integration, migration, and enterprise data architecture initiatives.
